Installing OpenOffice on Slackware Linux 11

The default installation of Slackware 11 in my Blackbox, does not include the OpenOffice document processor. I decided to install it manually from the binary packets. The binary packets of OpenOffice for Slackware are available in RPM format. When all of the packets have been downloaded, and its dependencies packet of course, you can install them manually with the rpm command. Here is the log of the installation process in my Blackbox.

root@blackbox:/mnt/usb/OOE680_m6_native_packed-1_en-US.9095/RPMS# rpm -ivh openoffice.org-core01-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core02-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core03-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core03u-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core04-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core04u-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core06-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core07-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core08-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-impress-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core05u-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm openoffice.org-core05-2.1.0-6.i586.rpm

The first command will install the core packets. The second command will install the application you want. In the example above, I installed the Word processor (writer). I hope it useful for you, and you don’t have to experience the trial and error, like me!
